Novo Nordisk Fondens Forelæsnings Pris

Fokus på diabetes

Novo Nordisk Fondens Forelæsnings Pris blev etableret i 1979. Prisen uddeles til en aktiv nordisk videnskabsmand, der har ydet en fremtrædende indsats inden for diabetesforskning eller -behandling. Prismodtageren inviteres til at holde en forelæsning i forbindelse med årskonferencen i Scandinavian Society for the Study of Diabetes. Prisen er på 600.000 kr., opdelt i 100.000 kr. som en personlig pris, og 500.000 kr. til forskning eller udviklingsarbejde. Beløbet doneres af Novo Nordisk Fonden.

Oprindelig hed prisen Jacob E. Poulsen’s Grant. Jacob E. Poulsen (1907-1988) var overlæge og en nøglefigur i fondens historie, herunder formand for fondens bestyrelse 1976-1979. Forelæsningen blev etableret i anerkendelse og beundring over Jacob E. Poulsens livslange bidrag til diabetesbehandling og -forskning og over hans inspiration af unge læger og forskere. I 1986 blev forelæsningen placeret i regi af Scandinavian Society for the Study of Diabetes. I 1996 fik den sit nuværende navn.

Prisen uddeles af en komite bestående af tre medlemmer fra Novo Nordisk Fondens Komite for Endokrinologi og Metabolisme samt formanden for Scandinavian Society for the Study of Diabetes.
