Jacobæus Prisen

Fondens ældste pris

Jacobæus Prisen blev indstiftet i 1939 (uddelt første gang i 1942) til minde om den svenske professor H.C. Jacobæus og er Novo Nordisk Fondens ældste pris. Prisen har til formål at promovere medicinsk forskning og gives årligt til en internationalt anerkendt forsker, der inviteres til at holde en forelæsning om sin forskning. Emnet bør falde inden for det fysiologiske eller endokrinologiske område. Prisen er på 1.500.000 kr., opdelt i 250.000 kr. som en personlig pris, og 1.250.000 kr. til forskning eller udviklingsarbejde.

Prisen uddeles i regi af Komite for Endokrinologi og Metabolisme, der er en komite under Novo Nordisk Fonden, og forelæsningerne afholdes så vidt muligt i skandinaviske universitetsbyer eller andre byer i Europa med tilknytning til medicinsk forskning.

H.C. Jacobæus (1879-1937) var en pioner inden for klinisk forskning. Han udviklede bl.a. en metode til at undersøge lungerne vha. torakoskopi – kikkertundersøgelser – hvilket har haft stor betydning for diagnosticering og behandling af lungesygdomme, især tuberkulose. Jacobæus var medlem af fondens bestyrelse fra 1926 og frem til sin død.

Prisen var tidligere forankret i sin egen fond og kendt under navnet Fondet H.C. Jacobæus’ Forelæsninger.
